| This is my second Nissan Silvia S12 Turbo, the first
one met an untimely death racing down the 'mad mile', the A217 in Surrey
against a Peugeot 206 (Silvia pissed all over it until the engine blew).
My Current S12 was bought from eBay for a very reasonable price. It was
a none runner, but with only 64,000 miles on the clock, service history
and one lady owner from new how could I not get it. |
|
After getting her home on a trailer, the task of
getting her stripped started. Surprisingly for a 20 year old car there
was very little rust on her. Some little shit of a vandal had pored
paint stripper on one of the front wings, and on the drivers door which
had started to rust, but apart from that everything else was OK. The
wing was soon sorted out as that wasn't too bad, the door was sanded
down to bare metal, filled and sprayed, as the body kit was going to
cover the damage I didn't have to be too fussy (as long as I got rid of
the rust). |
While waiting for the body kit to be made I decided to get the
engine running. Silvia hadn't been started for six months due to an
electrical problem!!! Anyway I put a new battery on and she started
first time, further investigations revealed that a new alternator was
needed but apart from that everything else was OK. The exhaust was on
its last legs, so was replaced with a custom made unit finishing off
into a twin 5" back box, all I can say is it's bloody loud!!!!!
The engine is now out of the car and is being rebuilt with lots of new
goodies including a new T25 turbo to replace the original T2 and a BMW
intercooler mounted in the front spoiler. If that isn't enough there's
also a Nitrous kit being fitted :-) |

The Body Kit |
|
The body kit was made another Silvia nut,
Silviagod,
and included a front spoiler, side skirts (with new door panels), front
wing vents and rear spats. I also added a shogun spoiler purchased from
eBay for 'not a lot' (good ol' eBay) and a pair of bonnet vents from an
RS Turbo. After the long trip up North to pick the kit up in my tiny AX
(there was hardly any room for me with the kit in it), the following day
work started on fitting.
